چکیده

Soil quality assessment serves as an index for appraising soil sustainability under varied management approaches. Our current investigation was oriented to establish a minimum data set (MDS) of indicators through the selection apt scoring functions each indicator, thus evaluating in Himalayan foothills. The experiment conducted during two consecutive years, viz. 2016 and 2017, comprised 13 treatments encompassing different combinations chemical fertilizers, organic manure, biofertilizers, (i) control, (ii) 20 kg P + PSB (Phosphorus solubilizing bacteria), (iii) Rhizobium, (iv) Rhizobium+ FYM, (v) 0.5 Mo PSB, (vi) (vii) Rhizobium (viii) 40 kg@ (ix) (x) (xi) (xii) (xiii) FYM. Evaluating physical, chemical, biological indicators, integrated module inorganic fertilization reflected significant improvement characteristics such water holding capacity, available nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, molybdenum, carbon fractions encircling microbial biomass (MBC), total bacterial fungal count. A principal component analysis (PCA) executed reduction multidimensional ensued by transformation selected indicators. (SQI) established exhibited variation 0.105 0.398, while magnitude share pertaining key influencing encircled capacity (WHC), dehydrogenase activity (DHA), bacteria count, P. that received nutrient package higher SQI (T10—0.398; T13—0.372; T7—0.307) comparison control treatment (T1—0.105). An enhanced put forth all edge any conjunctive reduced synthetic fertilizers with prime involvement over sole application fertilizers.

Maize productivity and nutrient use efficiency in Western Kenya as affected by soil type and crop management

Low soil fertility and high weed infestation are the main culprits for the declining maize production inWestern Kenya. Technology packages to address these constraints exist, but their effectiveness is likely to be influenced by variability in soil types and farm management practices in the region. Trials were conducted during the 2008/2009 cropping seasons to investigate the nutrient use e...

Soil-sediment nutrient transport dynamics in a Himalayan watershed

Nutrient dynamics in the Bela watershed, Nepal were examined using a range of GIS budget modelling and field analysis techniques. The fertility status analysis showed that soil acidity, phosphorus availability, and lack of base cations were the key soil fertility issues. Nutrient budget calculations revealed significant annual phosphorus deficits for maize rota tions, but only minor deficits i...

Soil-nutrient availability affected by different biomass-ash applications

This study, through an incubation experiment, evaluates the effect that different biomass ashes exert on the extractability of nutrients and some chemical parameters and dehydrogenase activity of a slightly acid soil. Three types of as were selected: two new ashes generated by the dry combustion of olive cake or by gasification of greenhouse vegetable wastes, and a third produced by wood combus...

Nutrient removal from septic effluents as affected by soil thickness and texture.

This study evaluated the effectiveness of soils with different textures and thickness to treat BOD, N and P eluted from household septic effluent. The assessments were accomplished by leaching undisturbed soil monoliths of 30, 45 and 60 cm thickness and 25 cm in diameter, representing the four different textural groups and hydraulic loadings recommended by the Kentucky Health Department, with d...

The Relationship between Nutrient-Rich Foods (NRF) Index as A Measure of Diet Quality and Malnutrition in Children

Background: The assessment of pediatric diet quality is of high interest because food habits that develop in childhood can predict adult diet-related disease. The aim of this study was to examine the association between the Nutrient-Rich Foods (NRF) index score and weight and height status. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in primary schools of Tehran, and the NRF9.3 algorithms...
